BCET Revisit

In my latest trip to India after one and a half year in US, I had a lotsa fun for one month in India... Wanted to see all places n do/eat all things for which I had a connection for past 26 yrs..One of them was of course visit to BCET..

On our pilgrimage tour of a day from ludhiana via Pathu to Asr for golden temple visit.. came in between a place which can be termed as "where I spent one of d most exciting phases of my life " BCET, GSP...

Me,chhavs, mom dad driving on NH34 and we crossed dinanagar, and we had planned we wil stop in our college on our way n suddenly me n chhavs were over excited n our heart started beating @ speed of car ( 120 / min ) as if this was our first visit to our college n I had Qs in my mind how wud it be ? or as if d day came wen I had first seen chhavs n my dil goes ZOOM ZOOM :) [ chuckles ]

Taking a left turn to enter the college, I see a dhabha on right which was Bhola Dhaba ( why did I kept on receiving mails saying its not there anymore ... of course it was but Bhola n tarlok were no there ]
I hoped to see any known guards which I could recognize which helped us ( cheems me sumi gupta saini to let go for 1am pranathas ) but al were new..

Just after entry before hostel# 1 there I see a Verka booth.. ( a new addition ) and then Hostel # 2 ( a new addition )..
ON entry a lawn mantained in which BCET has been written with grass n mantained well..... go further all hotsels had flag hoisted on cemented elevated slabs on which hostel number was engraved...

It was 1pm in Mid june but I was not feeling the heat.. oh I realized the entire campus was so beautifully covered with big trees.. all trees in our time had grown to full trees giving excellent shade to all students who r doing a GHERI to pulia.. :)

Reaching in front of the old computer block, I see another 2 blocks on d same side.. Administrative block and chemical block.. computer block moved to mechanical block ( I wish this could have happened earlier during our time :) )

moved further the Kacha rasta has been closed from mech block to Girls hostel ( chhavs spotted this ) and a new Nescafe booth opened in b/w pulia and shopping complex..

There were very few students / teachers in college as it was bunk / holidays period but I saw some gals walking from proper road on way to hostel but d way was full of shade n chhavs was "hum to dhoop main mare n yeh aish maar rahe hain chaya main"...

No change in Shopping complex / dispensary / tennis courts but the sign which earlier said "Prohibted Area for BOYS students " now said "Prohibited Area for Students" but same wohi our college admin.. how wil gals walk from there to their hostel... koi flyover to bana nahin :)

Baaki met Library assitant.. usne bahut pakaaya but gave us some news..
1. Production Engg. was closed in BCET now ( news which madem my heart pain )
2. Our college soon becomin NIT ( National Institute of technology )
3. Good placements happening ( WIPRO,HP,Infy coming n picking students )
4. College princi is now Nirmal singh ( Mech Prof. who used to say I have 2 daughters, both of them are girls. )

Rest canteen has a new look n has been opened near the mech block in d same shape of JDR REC canteen ( i m sure everyone knows tat canteen from consuelling days )

Chhavs met Prof. PK who recognized her .. n tellin proudly my PK bro is in canada for years now... [ chhavs n mona ne bahut nakal lagaayi hain uski ]

All said and one we felt really happy after visting our old college and I wish I had some more time to vist our prof's though I went to their offices of OP singh, Thakar, Gill,Rao but all empty but now they were all carpeted nicely n had coolers/ ac :)

Wish that time all we guys would have been together.. it would have been a blast !
